Email was a longtime forte for Daum, Korea's #2 portal, just as it is for Yahoo in the US. At some point, it even looked as though Daum's Hanmail was the default email option for all Korean netizens. But it may not be the case anymore, at least among "company workers" (presumably the white collar professionals), according to a recent survey done by Linknow (pretty much like Korea's LinkedIn).
Naver was the Koreans' favorite email service with 26% market share, while Hanmail did only 24.2%. Interestingly, the unsung hero here might be actually Gmail, which came out as the 4th most popular email service among professionals with the 9.3% market share. Naver domination in Korea is very much ongoing.
